Review of College Experience & Work & Study Experience

Most of my college experience i used during my internship especially on subject that i've learn in college

Internship time is a place that I can use my knowledge that I had learned theoretical and practice it at the organization. As the human resource student, I have a based knowledge about HR and I was glad that I was attached to the HR Dept. because I can utilize and share my knowledge with my colleagues in HR Dept.

 Administration Office Management
> On my first week of internship, I have to go to all division and department to understand their role and functions. One of it is admin and training department. As I can see in the department things that I can relate with the subject that I learn during class which is Administration and Office Management. They are the one who will prepare any purchase order and hire purchase document. They also will handle front desk as receptionist and their task is currier and receive letter, parcel and so on. Make call to outside and received call and transfer it to person that mention by the caller. The administrator also handling, control and distribute stationary equipment to all division and workers.

 Business Ethics & Etiquette
> I have learned their work culture and have to understand it. Example, their working hours from 9.00am to 5.30pm and there is no payment for working overtime, so that most of the employees will came at 9.00am and will be back at 5.30pm. To those who stayed back only will be tired and there will be no payment for that. Unless they have very important task and need to meet the deadline then they willing to stayed back. Another is, in that company from what I can see 99.99% of the employees (staff) are Malays and „Bumiputera‟ only one Indian. Their main language and for formal business they are using „Bahasa Melayu‟.
 Business Communication and Interpersonal And Communication Skills
 Business communication is the tools that used in the company, which is formal conversations such as in any meetings, through emails and phone calls. Both thought me on how to address people in formal way and greetings.

 Domestic Inquiry
> Domestic inquiry is only happen when there is internal problem in the company. Domestic inquiry was held by the company when there is a serious mistake happen and need to be looked closely by the higher level. Example is when a lot of money is missing from their storage or vaulting room or if the money was missing during cash-in-transit activity or when the money received by receiver the sum are not same as requested and the money was cut off. This thing involves company‟s money, profit and reputation.

 Employment Act & Employee Relations
> SRT-EON Security has follow the rules and regulations that stated in the Employment Act 1955. Example, working hours are not more than 8 hours per day and not more than 48 hours per weeks, maternity leave are 60 day consecutively for every pregnancy and maternity allowance are provided until the 5th child only.

 Introduction To Basic Computer Applications
> I am using this knowledge when doing my task that need to be accomplish by using computer. Example is when in preparing the employees master list that I have done it in Microsoft excel and Microsoft word. I have utilize my knowledge to do bold, underline, insert (picture, chart and smart art) border to make it as table, filling colour to the selected cell and colouring the font. I was using different colour for division and department, so that it will be easily to be identified and to make it interesting to be seen.

 Introduction To Human Resource Management
> My human resource management class has taught me on how to recruit new worker. As the HR, they need to ensure that they have the right number and the right kind of people at the right place and at the right time. Which it will brings maximum long-run benefits to both the organization and the individual employee. During the internship, the HR has given me opportunity to look up the candidates in Job Street and select who has meet the requirements of the position. Then after I select the candidates I need to sort the candidate based on their experience, previous job, our company industry, education, knowledge, strength, leadership skills, other strengths or skills and knowledge that related with the vacant based on their resume.

 Payroll & Office Applications
> I also have the opportunity to be attached to the payroll department for two days. My task there was checking the all the guards overtime and allowance to tally the amount in timesheet and the report that produce by the payroll officer.

 Public Relations
> Communication between employer and employee is very important within the companies because they are communicating to achieve their business goals. Our company also builds good relationship between their shareholders, customers and competitors. This is because they may know any new demand in the market so that they will be prepared for any changes. Public relations also important to build trust with everyone.

 Reading & Writing Skills For Administrative Professionals
> This knowledge I utilize it when I was asked to drafted a formal letter. The letter that I have drafted for the guards who entitle to get Carry and Use (C&U) allowance. The draft was acknowledge by our director and he confirm it to be used.

 Records Management For Administration Services
> Almost every day I do filling. Filling is very important to keep all the important document and keep it in care and safe because HR document are private and confidential that I cannot easily not disclosed it to everyone. Documents there created for internal and external use and its very valuable because every documents contain information about the company. I do use my knowledge in classroom such as arrange files and labeling files by using alphabetic arrangement. I also see them using different colour folder for each department, HR Dept. using pink folder.
